Art in the Garden
(Mill Valley, CA) - January 30, 2012 - Art is the expression of human creative skill and imagination. At the 2012 OAC Gardens, Art and Architecture Tour on April 26th, patrons will be able to view a wide and diverse spectrum of how the owners of five different Mill Valley properties have transformed their own homes into art.
All the homes in this year's tour are within walking distance of downtown thus located within a few blocks of our historic clubhouse at One West Blithedale Ave. in downtown Mill Valley. This will enable attendees to easily stroll, shuttle or cycle between them.
The homes on this tour were built between 1909 and 1941. From a beautifully restored craftsman to an exemplar of a remodel using advanced green-building practices and sustainable technologies, these homes exhibit an astonishing range of possibilities seen by these creative and artistic home owners. Join us for a tour that will stir your own imagination.
We invite the public to Shuttle, Stroll or Cycle to visit these five fabulous Mill Valley Homes in the downtown area staring from the 1904 Bernard Maybeck designed clubhouse in the heart of Mill Valley, CA. Exact locations are a surprise. Shuttles leave The Outdoor Art Club at One West Blithedale Ave. in downtown Mill Valley beginning at 9:30 a.m. The last shuttle leaves the clubhouse at 2:00 p.m. Private cars are not permitted.
A luncheon will be served at The Outdoor Art Club from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for an additional fee, limited seating. On the Patio, there will be gifts and plants for sale, a silent auction and experts to answer your gardening and conservation questions.
The Outdoor Art Club was founded in 1902 making it one of the oldest women's clubs in the West. Over the last 15 years, over $260,000 has been contributed from the Club to Marin County non-profits. The only public fundraiser of the year is the Garden Tour. This event is very popular and space is limited so be sure to sign up early. Reserve Tour Tickets in advance for $35 by April 20. Tickets at the door are $45. Luncheon reservations are $15.

Teasers for three of the homes...
Garden Vignettes: A series of organic garden vignettes, each one unique, and replete with surprising twists like edible leaves, blooming fruit trees, hidden patios and old stone statues juxtaposed against modern ceramic sculptures.
The Bubble: Sustainably renovated 1941 home resulting in a sanctuary which feels larger than its modest size, where the house and garden now seem extensions of one another, making it easy to envision living both indoors and out.
Restored 1929 Craftsman - Arching, curving lines inspired by original Bay Windows are reflected throughout the house and garden - sun porch windows, French doors, arched walls and in the garden gates designed by the owner populated with cast-iron birds, insects and frogs.
